Are private school better than public?

In effect, Education is a right that young learners have to receive. Thus, In Colombia there are two  sort of institutions or schools that students can acess. The first one is public schools  where student do not have to paid anything in order to adquire education. The second  one  is private schools where learners every month have to paid a pension. Consequently, the  teaching and learning in both institutions are disparate because of  the quality of  teaching, facilities and teachers. For that reason, the education in private schools is better than public due to the quality of teaching, facilities and teachers.

First all, education is better in private school because the teaching is more personalized, there is more time to resolve  the doubts that students have about topic when it does not clear for them. Instead in public schools, the teaching is more limited because there is no much time so students have to pay attention and be focused or they will be lost. Also, the material that  students have from private schools is complete becausse this has different and advance books in which students can have more contact with the teaching subjects. In comparison to public schools, students have to base on one book that it does not provide a good learning to students due to low level of complexity.

Second, The private schools is better because the conditions for receive a class are excellent. The classroom contain the adequately space, It also has fans  ceiling fans or air condition which students benefit and can develop their learning perfectly.. Also, there are few students in the class. It facilities a quickly understanding. Regard to teachers, in private schools there are many teachers who teach a specific subject rather in public school there are few teachers and they have to teach more tan one subject.

However, the bad things about  private schools is that students have to pay a lot of money every month. Also, children have to present an admsiion exam in order to Access to that schools. Thus, studetns who have needs, they can not enter of that school.

In conclusion, private schools is better because have many opportunities that students can take advantange in order to develop or increasing their knowledge and understanding. For instance, in private schools children have technology as resources, advanced books, personalized class, one teachers for every subject and good building .In constrast, in public school you have to pay every month, so children who have economic difficulties can not enter and receive a education.

Should Chimpanzees Be Considered ‘Persons’?
1. Whose viewpoint is expressed? The viewpoint is expressed by Jeff Sebo.He is the director of the animal studies program at New york University

2. What does the author want us to think? The autor want us to think about the concept about "human" and  "Person" so he makes a comparison with Chimpanzes that are being held in cages by their owners.Thereofore, the goal is that chimpanzes have freedom and live in their habitat with other animals. For that reason the autor want to emphasize that chimpanzees are people because they have the rights and they deserve that everyone seem to them as people.

3. What viewpoint is not expressed? Whose voice do we not hear?
I think that the viewpoint that is not expressed is the group of philosophers, who  submitted an amicus curiae brief to the New York Court of Appeals in support of legal personhood for Kiko and Tommy because this articule just mention and do not provide the argument.
4. What is an alternative perspective of the text?
I think that alternative perspective of the text is change the mind of people about animals which they be aware that they are people and they need rights as us

5. Can you think of other questions this text responds to?
Does Human and person mean the same?
Animal should have rights?
Why chimpanzes are considered animals ?

At the end of "Critical Theory and Educational Practice", Giroux states that "The point is that critical theory needs to be reformulated to provide the opportunity to both critique and elaborate its insights beyond the constraints and historical conditions under which they were firts generated" (p. 50).

How do you think Frankfurt School thoughts can be applied to today in our own culture?

I think that Frankfurt School thoughts can be applied to today in order to encourage and open the people eyes'  which they  can see the world beyond and get a critical thiniking what happen in our society. Thus, I think that Frankfurt school give people a way to see diferent the world which people opinions' are essential in the real world that there are no manipuation from power or goverment that want to force and they do whatever they want, Another thing, is the influence of media. so, people has to be aware and questioning why are the media relevant?.In other words, they should think about the power that they give to   media.

  Video by Michael Saendel

1. How does Michael Sandel support the thesis that "over the past three decades we have drifted from having a market economy to becoming a market society?"

Firstly, He said that the market society is a place where almost  everything is up for sale. Thus, he support his thesis  with an example of Millions of babies
born drug-addicted and there is a charity you can contribute which uses a
cash in order to incentive to try to solve this problem, the charity offers any
drug-addicted woman three hundred dollars to undergo sterilization.. In other words Michael Sandel intent to say is that market give incentive in order to resolve a social problem. So, he give a evidence of
education which  he said that there are many school that are struggling with the challenge of improving   achievement from kids who have a poor background and want to lift up their academic achievement through the use of cash incentitive pay.

2. What sorts of arguments are offered for and against the assumed proposal of paying young children two dollars for every book they read?

  • it’s a wrong performance because there is a wrong incentive and the
wrong behavior. Students are going to read stupid books or things that
wouldn’t really get it what we´re trying to change.
  • Passion and love for learning cannot be bought because they're
priceless so, those things are developed by good parenting and value.More of society good teachers and good principals.
  • Cash is a physical prize so in their world this is currency it’s  valuable. It’s a way of motivating kids.

  • Some students love reading books and why not get paid for reading
    something that you love.

A person whose name was Jhon. He
said that he like reading . So, he want to promote his son to read. He decides to give them an incentive of twenty dollar  and they read many books on vacations.
He said "the money was a jump start to get them to love learning".
 3. Now, what is your standpoint about cash incentives at school or at home to encourage students to read more books?

I am not agree with cash incentives because I think that it does not encourage children to read.Obviously, they read a lot because they know that they are going to receive an incentive if they reaad but they do not read because of passion. Thus, I think that children should have passion whatever thing they do.

4. When Michael Sandel contends that "this tendency of markets and cash incentives of crowding out nonmarket goods, higher goods, can be seen in may spheres of social life, what sort of "higher goods" do you think he is refering to?

I think that Michel refers with the words "higher good" , Something that money can not buy.For instance, values, moral, integrity, manners, love, a home so on.

5. What kind of non-material goods do you think have been crowded out by market transactions in Colombia?

I think that non-material good that have been crowded out in Colombia are justice, education, unemployment and health because currently, in our country there is justice because people who committed big crimes ,they do not receive an adequate sentence but they were free and crimes are impugned. On the other hand, education is not quallity because teachers do not get good payment and students also cannot able to receive teaching.
Another thing is health because the goverment does not provide garantee that a pacient should has.

6. What should be the role of money and markets in our Colombian society?

The role of the money should be benefits to people which goverment give hem many oportunities to study and work in order that they can growth as profesional people. Besides, people can obtain a good salary with wages and bonus. Moreover, goverment should invest money to build schools, hospital, roads and tecnology in learning. Finally, goverment shoul give a free health ensurance which pacient does has to pay anythingt and they can have immediate attention
